East Neuk Knits…
Wrap up warm for an amazing experience
The locations
-
Bowhouse, St. Monans.
Bowhouse is our main marketplace, with vendors and a colourful display of herring around a Drifter herring boat sail. You’ll find sheep and goats here as part of our celebration of fibre from animal to yarn,
Also based at Bowhouse you’ll find Baern cafe (ground and first floor), Stocks kitchen shop and food vans in the courtyard (also open to non-ticket holders).
There are plenty of loos including two disabled toilets. The site is on one level and is wheelchair accessible.
Transport will run from here to the other sites.
-
Di Gilpin's Bothy
Some workshops will be held in the cosy bothy at Di Gilpin’s studio at the Balcaskie Estate, just opposite Kellie Castle.
Entry to the bothy is by stairs only and please bear in mind that the loo is upstairs here. There are other loos nearby on the ground floor in an adjacent building.
-
Di Gilpin's Wool Hoose
Some workshops will be held at the new Wool Hoose next to Di Gilpin’s studio at the Balcaskie Estate, just opposite Kellie Castle.
Entry to the workshop is on the ground floor and leads to a wonderful beamed learning space. The toilets, including accessible loos are downstairs in this building.
-
Scottish Fisheries Museum
We will be hosting workshops and talks over the weekend at the Scottish Fisheries Museum in Anstruther. This will be in the Education Room on the first floor, where there is stair, slope and ramp access. There are toilets including disabled loos here. And a cafe!
The museum also has a fabulous exhibition on at this time by the artist Beverley Carruthers, which explores the lives of the Herring Girls - please do explore when you visit!
Transport will be available from Bowhouse.
-
Kellie Castle
A stunning castle with 14th century origins and rescued in the 19th century by the artistic Lorimer family. Workshops will be in the undercroft, and you can enjoy guided tours and the tea room all weekend.
The castle has a toilet building by the gardens, accessible by a level path.
Transport will be available from Bowhouse; The castle entrance is just opposite Comielaw Farm and Di Gilpin Studios (a useful landmark if lost!)
